River and Mercantile’s Michael Clark honored with Geoffrey Heywood Award
BOSTON, June 1, 2020 – River and Mercantile (R&M) announced that Michael Clark, Managing Director and Consulting Actuary, is the 2020 recipient of the Geoffrey Heywood award. Given by the International Association of Consulting Actuaries (IACA), a section of the International Actuarial Association which is the worldwide association of professional actuarial associations, the award recognizes a young consulting actuary for their significant contributions to the public and actuarial profession.
Awarded every two years, the intent of this recognition is to bring to the consulting actuarial profession into the public domain and to encourage the successful development of consulting actuarial practices and actuarial literature.
Mr. Clark, who heads River and Mercantile’s operations in the west as well as business development for the US Solutions business, also serves as the President of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (CCA). A sought-after speaker and expert on pension related issues, he is experienced in all aspects of financial risk management for defined benefit plans as well as retiree medical plans and defined contribution plans.

Mr. Clark is a frequent contributor and speaker at industry and professional association conferences on the topics of pension risk management and pension plan administration and has had several articles published in major trade magazines. Additionally, he participates in the leadership of the Western Pension & Benefits Council – Denver Chapter. He is a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
