River and Mercantile Group Limited (R&M) is an Asset Management business with a broad range of services. Our activities currently focus on Equities and Infrastructure serving a global client base of institutional clients and wholesale and retail financial intermediaries and strategic relationships.

Job Summary

We are a financial services company currently in the process of right sizing the estate after a significant buy out. We are taking the exciting opportunity to re fit and get ready for the next phase of the company’s growth. We are bringing the IT operations team inhouse from a 3rd party MSP. The successful candidate will be an instrumental part of a growing internal IT operations team, maintaining, supporting, optimizing, and building our strategic vision to move to Cloud core infrastructure. The ideal person will have experience in implementing and designing Azure infrastructure solutions, be adaptive; agile and be an excellent communicator. They should be capable of writing clear documentation as well as training other team members where applicable. Management experience is not required, a Senior Engineer looking for their next role will be a great fit.

Specific activities and responsibilities required

Key responsibilities and accountabilities (including but not limited to the following

  • Strong technical knowledge and capability in the implementation and configuration of security and IT systems.
  • In depth knowledge and ability to architect infrastructure solutions based on Microsoft technologies.
  • Foundational building and ownership of current IT Infrastructure and future cloud solutions.
  • Responsible for solution designs, managing and delivering the implementations.
  • Work with the application teams, project managers, 3rd parties etc. to produce solutions for new projects.
  • Liaise with all parts of group technology IT operations and external support partners.
  • Work closely with external partners, to build relationships and oversee existing contractual agreements.
  • Attend and contribute to ongoing meetings and be able to react to moving circumstances.
  • Be aware and understand security principles and implementations in an on premise and cloud infrastructure.
  • Be proactive and open as part of the team.

  • Comply with relevant FCA rules and regulations, and River and Mercantile policies as they apply to the jobholder, including adherence to FCA Individual Conduct Rules.
  • Builds upon understanding of the various aspects of the RMG business and develops relationships with all employees across various functions.

Competencies, knowledge and experience

Must haves:

  • Microsoft Azure including cloud-based tools such as backup and Site Recovery, Azure Monitor, Azure Active Directory, etc. • Owning and managing a hybrid infrastructure environment based on systems hosted internally and externally, including PaaS and SaaS and Azure working within an ITIL Framework.

Desirable:

  • University degree
  • Intermediate to expert Microsoft qualification
  • ITIL qualification
