Full time 30 Coleman Street, London, EC2R 5AL

Role overview

We seek an individual who can engage with colleagues, clients and investee companies on a range of sustainability and responsible investment issues. An in-depth understanding of investment stewardship and ESG concepts is key.

ESG & Investment Stewardship

Background

River & Mercantile Group (R&M) is an advisory and asset management business with a broad range of services, from consulting and advisory to fully delegated fiduciary and fund management. Its advisory and investment solutions serve a large client base predominantly in the UK, primarily institutional pension schemes, with the remainder being retail financial intermediaries and insurance firms.

River and Mercantile Group is a sustainable business that aims to compound value for all stakeholders over the long term. It is a responsible steward of capital with a culture of longevity. It will strive for sustainability through the pillars of Responsible Stewardship, People, Community, Environment and Innovation, leading to positive long-term outcomes for all.

The Group takes our role as custodians of our client’s assets very seriously and we have been working to develop and enhance our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters and initiatives.  Considerations of our role as stewards and an evolving understanding of stewardship being “the responsible allocation, management and oversight of capital to create long-term value for clients, leading to sustainable benefits for the economy, the environment and society”, as defined in the 2020 UK Stewardship Code, are consistent with our clients’ evolving investment needs and expectations.  Therefore, stewardship plays an expanding role in the Group’s focus on delivering investment solutions to meet those needs.
