The role of Client Services Associate is primarily focused on the investment performance reporting requirements of our clients within the River and Mercantile Solutions business. The main responsibility undertaken is the production of periodic investment governance reports for our Defined Benefit Pension Scheme clients within the Fiduciary Management section of Solutions.

= Good team worker, the role requires collaborative working within the team which is crucial when working towards deadlines.

= Attention to detail – a thorough and methodical approach is important to ensure correct data and information is provided to clients and third parties.

= Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written –Client Services deals directly with most teams in the business as well as clients and third parties so being able to build relationships with these parties is a crucial part of the role.


Key Responsibilities

= Maintain high quality of service through producing client performance reporting;

= Develop product knowledge of fiduciary management and other business areas;

= Have the ability to solve investment related queries and problems;

= Broaden knowledge and interest in the financial sectors and markets;

= Provide explanations of clients’ investment returns in the context of their actuarial requirements;

= Carry out analytical and research work where required to support consultants;

= Respond to ad-hoc requests and answer queries;

= To be aware of and adhere to Compliance procedures and requirements in respect of the following: confidentiality, data protection, anti-money laundering procedures, TCF, conflicts of interest.

This role will provide exposure to all these areas, although it is expected that employees will specialise to some degree with time and experience. We are looking for strong candidates that have the potential to progress and undertake further responsibilities.


Knowledge and experience

A university graduate with a minimum of a 2:1 honors degree, in a numerical, finance or economics-based discipline.

Previous work experience is an advantage, but not essential.

High level of computer literacy, in particular Excel and specialised software (hands on experience of wealth management software particularly beneficial).

This role will be with the PVT Equities Team of River and Mercantile Asset Management LLP (RAMAM), a subsidiary of River and Mercantile Group.


The PVT Equities Team is an active long-only equity investment team, founded in 2006, with sustainable investing integrated across our investment philosophy and process, S-PVT, short for Sustainable Potential, Valuation and Timing. 


Our sustainability analysis is focused on material sustainability issues that have a pathway to becoming financially material to companies. We believe financial materiality represents the crossover between what is important to society and – via a positive or negative feedback loop to business performance – shareholders. Consideration of these key issues should therefore be considered part and parcel of good fundamental analysis, allowing us to deliver client requirements for investment returns with a wider positive impact.


Overview of the role


The ESG & Stewardship Analyst will support the Director of ESG and the PVT Team through the tracking and reporting of proxy voting and ESG engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities


Key responsibilities & accountabilities


1/ Monitor and coordinate proxy voting activities, escalating referred votes to the appropriate portfolio manager or analyst. Monitor the service from proxy voting advisors and identify opportunities.

2/ Collect and analyse voting decisions.

3/ Monitor engagement process, especially progress against engagment objectives and idenitfy when escalation may be required. When applicable, contribute to collective engagement discussions.

4/ Collect and collate engagement commentary from team and identify emerging themes.

5/ Prepare quarterly, annual and ad-hoc voting and engagement reports for clients, regulators and for internal consumption.

6/ Act as the first point of contact for Distribution on PVT-related ESG questions and content. Contribute to reporting for industry bodies such as UNPRI, TCFD, UN Global Compact and the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative.

7/ Support portfolio managers and analysts by compiling and researching ESG information ahead of company engagement meetings. Attend company engagement meetings when required and write summary notes.

8/ Contribute to research and develop new tools and processes for monitoring individual company ESG issues and portfolio ESG metrics.


Knowledge and Experience


Essential:


1/ Degree from a leading university

2/ At least one year’s work experience

3/ Strong IT skills


Preferable:


1/ One to three years’ work experience in the investment management industry

2/ Strong numeracy skills

3/ Training or qualifications in sustainable investing, corporate governance or ESG

4/ Strong analytical & research abilities

5/ Experience with stakeholder management

6/ Strong listening & communication skills
